37 Kalinga IPs received free skills training from TESDA

TABUK CITY, Kalinga— A total of 37 members of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) community here have received various free skills training from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA in-line to the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to improve the lives of the marginalized sector especially the IP community.

“The trainings were Manicure/Pedicure, Basic Hair Cutting, Mushroom Production and Skills/Livelihood Training under the Community Based Training program of TESDA Kalinga,” said Joel Pilotin, TESDA-Abra provincial director.

He said that the CBT were conducted at Ballayangon, Pinukpuk on October 10 to 13, 2019.

“The skills training will help the Bago Farmer’s Association to boost their skills and knowledge to increase their chance of employability,” he said.

Adding, “This is in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Kalinga under the leadership of Marlyn Wansi,” he said.

Of the 37 beneficiaries, 17 were females were 20 males have finished the said training.

“Rest assured that we will continue our efforts in reaching remote areas in the Province of Kalinga,” said Pilotin. (Imee Dong-as/TESDA-Kalinga).
