Welcome to Tesda CAR

Situated within the island of Luzon, the Cordillera Administrative Region is the only landlocked region in the Philippines. It is bordered by the Ilocos Region in the west and the southwest, and by the Cagayan Valley on the north, east, and southeast. The region is dominated by a mountainous topography, characterized by very steep slopes and high elevation.

 

The region comprises of six provinces namely; Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province withtwo cities—Baguio City in Benguet, and Tabuk City in Kalinga which are also CAR’s primary growth centers.

 

Cordillera has the least number of population with only 1.7 million (2015 Population Census, Philippines Statistics Authority). It is the most diversified ethno-linguistic region in the Philippines with its major languages having sub-dialect variations and home to many ethnic tribes commonly referred to as the Igorot.

 

In terms of economic activity, the economy of Cordillera is industry-based with a high share of manufacturing sector specifically high-value electronics and aircraft/aerospace machinery manufacturing at the Baguio Ecozone of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA). Tourism and service sector has also been steadily growing especially in real estate, renting and business activities. Among the different industries,agriculture in Cordillera has been constantly declining from 2013-2015 while all other industries (manufacturing, construction, transportation & communication, trade, and other services) are steadily growing.
