RTC-Baguio prepares 295 graduates for employment
To help prepare its graduates for entry into the labor market, the Regional Training Center-Baguio (RTC-Baguio) conducted a job induction and closing ceremony for 295 graduates in various qualifications held at the YMCA Function Hall on July 27, 2017.
With the theme, “Continuous Upgrading of Competencies Bridges Employability, Productivity & Competitiveness in the Labor Market,” the program aimed to orient and familiarize the center’s graduates on basic employment standards.
Labor Officer Rodel Dumlao of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – CAR facilitated the discussion on worker’s rights and benefits and general labor standards.
“The discussion was very helpful and informative for us to know the proper compensation for skilled workers as we hope to be employed after our trainings,” said Harold Hidalgo, one of the Best Trainee awardees.
Meanwhile, then RTC-Baguio Center Administrator David B. Bungallon emphasized the need for continuous upgrading considering the growing competitive labor market.
“Your success is the measure of our services,” said Bungallon as he challenged the RTC-Baguio to continuously improve its services and support to trainees as it works toward global competitiveness.
On the other hand, then TESDA-CAR Regional Director Rafael Y. Abrogar II shared that the graduates need only remember Pananampalataya at Panalangin, Determination, Discipline, and to Seek Counsel (PDDS) in order to be successful.
He added that poverty was not a hindrance to making dreams a reality, and that TESDA can provide the instrument to achieve these dreams through its trainings and other services.
“As graduates, you are equipped with the right skills, and when coupled with the right attitude, you will have endless opportunities,” said Abrogar. “The sky is not the limit, it is just the beginning.”
Certificates of training were awarded to the graduates in Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, CNC Lathe and Milling Machine Operations NC II, Machining NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II, Automotive Servicing NC I, Masonry NC II, English Language Proficiency, and Certificates of Competency in Machining and CNC. Best Trainee awardees for each batch were given certificates of recognition and medals. #Bernice B. Lee
