TESDA training center gives bicycle racks to city
LOAKAN-The Regional Training Center Baguio turned over bicycle racks to the city as one of the highlights of the 26th anniversary of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority with the theme “Tesda@26: Bringing hope in times of crisis.” The bike racks were turned over to the city on Aug. 24 at the City Hall grounds. The undertaking is in line with the Greening Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program of TESDA and in support of the program of the city government on promoting bicycles as a means of transportation for students and workers. The Greening TVET program is the strategic entry point for ensuring a world of work that contributes to social cohesion and promotes environmentally sound and sustainable development. The initial units fabricated by trainers and students are installed within the City Hall grounds while the succeeding units are at Burnham Park, Athletic Bowl, and other strategic locations within the city. The RTC Baguio also organized the TESDA Bike Group to encourage its staff and students to partake in the weekly bikeathon program of the city government. “The installation of the bicycle rack is indeed timely and essential, especially this pandemic that we need to comply with the health protocols on social distancing and at the same time strengthen our immune system through cycling so the installed bicycle racks would be valuable to the people of Baguio,” RTC Baguio Administrator Belmar G. Angoling said.
