According to Engr. Adrian B. Ampong, member of the National Technical Committee (NTC) for Mindanao, the activity is not a competition but “an audition” process to determine the best competitor and expert qualifiers who shall eventually represent the country in the upcoming ASEAN Skills Competition come September 2018. The competing regions include Region CAR, III, IV-A, IX and XI.

“Think of this as an audition for the best and let us ingrain the Worldskills culture and standards as we gear toward the Philippine hosting of the ASEAN Skills Competition in 2022,” said Ampong.

He added that winners of the Pre-Qualification Selection Process will undergo the Goldcamp 1.0, which shall evaluate the behaviour of the competitors. Those who qualify will undergo the Goldcamp 2.0 as the country’s representatives for the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition by August in Thailand.

“It is an honor for CAR to host one of the most important events in the journey to the ASEAN Skills Competition,” said RD Piñol, adding that the weather may be cold but TESDA-CAR very warmly welcomes all the participants.
