TESDA-CAR to validate alleged unauthorized recruitment for OFWs by language centers

BAGUIO CITY – Regional Director Efren F. Piñol of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region (TESDA-CAR) issued a directive to the provincial directors and personnel for the immediate validation and strict monitoring of Language Training Centers in the region.

This came after TESDA met with officials of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to address reports on alleged unauthorized recruitment activities for overseas deployment by language training centers, particularly those offering courses in Japanese and Korean Language Proficiency.

“We want to assure the public, especially those who want to be deployed overseas, that language training centers registered with TESDA shall abide by existing policies on recruitment and advertising of jobs,” said RD Piñol, adding that TESDA-CAR will work closely with other agencies and take all necessary measures to ensure strict compliance of language training centers in the region.

Meanwhile, TESDA is also working towards the revival of its Language Skills Institutes across the country that will offer language and culture programs based on the most frequented countries by OFWs, as an additional competency that will improve employability in local and international markets. #
