Agri-tourism school opens in Ifugao

ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Cordillera Administrative Region (TESDA-CAR) graced the launching of the Romeia Agri-Tourism and Training Center (RATTC) in Calupaan, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao on May 28, 2018.

According to Imelda Mayangao, president and owner of RATTC, the training center is the realization of her dream to help change the lives of the people in the community.

“It is important that we have ambitions, and I encourage the parents and children in the community to grab this opportunity offered by this institution,” said TESDA-CAR Regional Director Efren F. Piñol, adding that the agency has scholarship programs, which will be implemented by qualified TVET providers.

Moreover, Provincial Director John Adawey of TESDA-Ifugao said that the training center is located in a strategic area as it can also serve the neighboring municipalities of Aguinaldon and Mayoyao in Ifugao, Paracelis in Mountain Province, as well as Ramon and San Mateo of Region II.

Meanwhile, Cris Balancio of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) – CAR noted the need for more people trained and practicing in the agriculture sector.

“We need to advocate agriculture as a preferred choice of profession, because if the number of agricultural workers continue to decline, we may have to import all our food,” said Balancio.

Representatives of the local government also expressed their support to the school and its programs, and will encourage their constituents to avail of these, noting that TESDA certification can enhance employability.

At present, the training center is offering TESDA-registered qualifications in Driving NC II, HEO Hydraulic Excavator NC II, HEO Wheel Loader NC II, Agricultural Crops Production NC II and Trainers Methodology 1. #
