All 15 provincial, city and municipal LGUs of Baguio and Benguet signed the MOA, together with TESDA-CAR, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-CAR), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

“We should work together to strengthen the fight and ensure that no one will fall victim to illegal recruitment and trafficking,” said Baguio City Mayor Mauricio G, Domogan.

Meanwhile, TESDA-CAR committed its support by providing services for returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

“TESDA will be spearheading the skills upgrading and retooling of OFWs, and provide scholarships for them and their dependents,” said Engr. Manuel B. Wong, Provincial Director of TESDA-Benguet.

According to Emerito A. Narag, Provincial Head of DOLE-CAR, the public should learn how to avoid illegal recruiters through greater public awareness campaigns and the support of LGUs.

“This convergence MOA will serve as a platform for law enforcement officers, as well as create more public awareness especially since illegal recruiters are also using social media for their activities,” said Director Sherilyn G. Malonzo of the POEA.#
