TESDA-CAR awards certificates to 100 Pimentel scholars

BAGUIO CITY – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region (TESDA-CAR) awarded Certificates of Scholarship to 100 beneficiaries of Senator Koko Pimentel for trainings in Slaughtering Operations National Certificate (NC) II, Cookery NC II, and Agricultural Crops Production NC II on July 20, 2018 at the Baguio City Hall.

According to Engr. Manuel B. Wong, Acting Regional Director of TESDA-CAR, the scholarship certificates allotted in the agricultural and food security sectors cover the training and assessment costs amounting to around Php 1.6 million.


“We hope that these training scholarships will open opportunities for employment to the beneficiaries,” said Acting RD Wong.


Similarly, Baguio City Vice-Mayor Edison R. Bilog said that he hopes the beneficiaries will maximize these services as these were “galling sa puso” (from the heart).


“We are thankful for these agencies and public servants who go out of their way to help the people,” said former Benguet governor, Nestor B. Fongwan, who was present during the activity.

Fifty beneficiaries will start their trainings at MMS Development Training Center Corporation and Chets Academy in Baguio, while the 50 beneficiaries from Benguet will train at Cosmic Farms and Lily of the Valley Organic Farm.


Bong Cruz, Assistant Chief of Political Affairs of Sen. Pimentel’s office helped award the scholarship certificates after the Special Session of the City Council, alongside their medical assistance to selected Baguio and Benguet beneficiaries. #
