TESDA-CAR caps 24th Anniv with awarding, funshoot
BAGUIO CITY - The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region (TESDA-CAR) concluded its 24th Anniversary celebration through an Awarding Ceremony on September 11, 2018 and a Fun Shoot at the Shilan Firing Range on September 12, 2018.

According to Glenn N. Murphy, TESDA-CAR’s Finance and Administrative Division Chief, TESDA has achieved many milestones in its 24 years of existence, from providing quality skills trainings to participating in international competitions.
More importantly, TESDA has “changed and improved the lives of many people,” said Michael del Rosario, an entrepreneur who served as Guest Speaker during the Awarding Ceremony at the Newtown Plaza Hotel.
“TESDA needs to continue to share with its trainees the Skills, Malasakit, and Excellence or SME to become successful entrepreneurs or employees,” said del Rosario, adding that if there were enough employment opportunities, many will decide to stay and work in the country.
Moreover, Murphy said that the Awarding Ceremony aimed to recognize regional winners of institutional awards, loyalty awardees, as well as partners who excelled.
The institutional awards winners include Noriel K. Ramos of the Regional Training Center – Baguio for the Tagsanay Award, the Department of Trade and Industry Abra Provincial Office for the Kabalikat Award, Jay-r B. Guisdan for the Idol ng TESDA Award, and Carolina A. Jacaban of the TESDA Baguio City Unit for the 2017 TESDA Model Employee of the Year Award.
Thirteen employees were given Loyalty Award for 20 years in service, while Susana G. Carbonell of the Regional Operations Division was the lone recipient of the Loyalty Award for 30 years in service.
INTERNATIONAL COMPETENCE. Competitors and Experts who represented the country to the ASEAN Skills Competition were also recognized during the Awarding Ceremony. In addition, Jevo Gygni M. Calaustro and Julie Anne T. Buaken, both competitors and their experts, Mary Kristine C. Pasion and Joseph A. Sab-it, were also recognized for representing the country in the recently concluded ASEAN Skills Competition in Bangkok, Thailand. All four are from the Baguio City School of Arts and Trades (BCSAT).
Meanwhile, TESDA-CAR also organized the Fun Shoot, which was open to employees, as well as shooting enthusiasts from TESDA Regions 1 and 2.
According to TESDA-CAR Acting Regional Director Manuel B. Wong, the activity aimed to foster camaraderie among TESDA employees while enhancing skills competence. Range officials from the Philippine Practical Shooting Association were present to monitor and ensure safety of the participants. #
