LOAKAN, Baguio City--The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-CAR acting regional director Engineer Manuel Wong urged Indigenous Peoples (IPs) scholar graduates from the region to take advantage of the opportunity to seek employment during the jobs fair on May 1, 2019.

"In 2018, there were 3,402 members of the IP community in the whole region who availed of scholarship for skills under the tech-voc program, of 3,389 whom finished their respective courses," said Engineer Manuel Wong on the sidelines of the Labor Day press conference yesterday (April 24,2019).

He said that the trainings that they have provided for the IP community will enhance their employability.

He reiterated that although the mandate of TESDA focuses on trainings, they are also eyeing for a suitable employment for their IP graduates.

"Our thrust now is livelihood training and employment after. It is a must that trained IP scholars and graduates will be employed," he said.

He said that attending to the needs of the IPs in the Cordillera is in line with the President Rodrigo Duterte's effort to aid the marginalized communities with skills development that would uplift their conditions.
