TESDA- CAR holds capacity training for provincial information officers

LOAKAN, Baguio City--The Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) - Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) conducted a two-day capacity training for the different provincial Information Officers(IOs) to enhance their capability to market its programs and services to their clients.

"We have so many programs and services that we failed to market to the public," said Engineer Manuel B. Wong, Acting Regional Director on Thursday on the sidelines of the News and Feature Writing Workshop for Information Officers.

There were a total of 17 participants coming from the different provincial offices: three in Abra; two in Baguio-Benguet; two in Ifugao; one in Kalinga; three in Mountain Province; and six from TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs).

He said that the two day event will capacitate all information officers in providing information, programs and services to the public.

"The workshop focused on effective news article writing and bringing the service closer to the public through press releases," he said.

Wong emphasized the need for IOs to be capacitated in improving the image of the government.

The said training is in line with TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapena directive in providing quality information, programs and services to the public.

Writing is a continuous learning process

Philippine News Agency (PNA) - Baguio bureau chief Liza Agoot, who served as the resource speaker, told the participants that writing is a continuous learning process which requires effort and patience.

Among the topics discussed were: story angling, journalism ethics, significant events organization, proper way of obtaining information.
