TESDA turns over training cum production project to LGU of Hungduan

LAGAWE,Ifugao—Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) provincial training center here turned over a multi-purpose view deck as proof of the work of the country's freshly-minted TESDA graduates here.

“The project adopted the training cum production concept, in which the trainees have an actual output after the training period,” said Felixberto B. Matute Jr.,TESDA PTC-Ifugao, Center Administrator.

He said that multi-purpose view deck was the output of Carpentry NC II, Masonry NC II and Tile setting NC II training cum production conducted by the government’s job skills training agency under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act of 2017 (UAQTEA).

“There were a total of 25 scholar-graduates from construction- related courses provided by TESDA who completed the project. Nineteen were males and six were female.

He noted that the realization of the view deck is one of the initiatives of the agency to support the “Build Build Build (BBB) Program” of President Rodrigo Duterte.

BBB program seeks to accelerate infrastructure spending and develop skilled workers in the construction sector to encourage industries that will yield robust growth, create jobs and improve the lives of Filipinos.

The center administrator emphasized that training cum production like this would help build permanent facilities which will cater to Indigenous Peoples (IPs) community needs.

Matute also noted that the training cum production aims to provide the graduates skills in order to enhance their employability in seeking job opportunities.

TESDA provided the supplies and materials during the training while the hauling of aggregates was provided by the Local Government Unit of Hungduan as their counterpart.

Hungduan municipal mayor Hilario Bumangabang lauded the agency for their help in the realization of the construction of the view deck within the heritage site of the municipality.

“TESDA’s workmanship contributed a lot to the honing of skills of the trainees that made them construct the facility which will be beneficial to all of us,” he said.

With the TESDA slogan, “TESDA Abot Lahat,” TESDA Ifugao is determined to reach out to more clients and partners.
