51 cops get free driving lesson from TESDA
LAGAWE, Ifugao—A total of 51 personnel from the Ifugao Police Provincial Office (IPPO) received training on practical driving from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) equipping them with additional competencies in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
“The training provided to the IPPO personnel will equip them with skills in practical driving which they utilize once they are assigned to their area of responsibilities,” said John Adawey, TESDA Ifugao provincial director.
He also said that this is in partnership with Ifugao Police Provincial Office. Adding, “TESDA is mandated to conduct short term skills training in partnership with other agencies to enable target beneficiaries to become productive members of the community.”
IPPO Provincial Director P/Lt. Col. Romeo Mangwag explained the importance of the said training during the completion program of the IPPO personnel.
“The training is intended for our police personnel who will be deployed in remote areas of Ifugao. This will also be helpful to our policewomen who can serve as an assistant driver in their place of assignment, he said.
The training was conducted as a community based training with a duration of 15 days. Of the 51 cops, 26 were policewomen and 25 were policemen.
Driving skills as an edge
Police Staff Sergeant Robert B. Dot-al relayed that during his first year in service he is not equipped with driving skills.
“I realize how important driving lessons are, especially when in service. You will never know when and where you will respond and help civilians,” he said.
“I am so grateful for being part of this skills training for us to be able to perform our duties and responsibilities promptly.”
