TESDA Benguet to hold Adivay Skills Competition, highlights participation of TVET advocates

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet—The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) here is preparing for the conduct of Adivay Skills Competition which will provide a venue for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) competitors to showcase their competencies.

“We will continue to produce competent and globally-competitive TVET advocates to have more representatives for the high-level competitions,” said Engr. David Bungallon, TESDA Baguio-Benguet Provincial Director.

Adding, “The event will include assessment of the capabilities and competence of tech-voc trainees, graduates, and industry workers.”

He said that this year, the Adivay Skills Competition will be participated by the Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTECs) and other TVET advocates.

CTECs serve as the primary TVET advocates in their respective communities.

Bungallon explained that CTECs are identified as regular Local Government Unit (LGU) personnel who are focal persons trained by TESDA to plan, organize, manage, and monitor community-based training and enterprise development (CBTED) programs at the LGU using the CBTED methodology.

“They work on full-time basis and require authority/legal personality in the communities to be able to efficiently perform their duties,” he added.

The Adivay Skills Competition is conducted in November every year for TVET promotion and advocacy.

This year, TESDA has expanded the participation of all partners, stakeholders and trainees in the skills competition. It was agreed during the meeting that there will be three categories: CTEC Agriculture, TVIs Tourism, and Open Category Industry.

The activity also encourages active participation of public and Private TVIs and industry representing the 13 Municipalities of Benguet. (Glenda Marquez, TESDA- Benguet)
