LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET – A total of 19 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) received certification from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) which serves as a proof of their skills and competencies after their release from the jail facility.
“We are not just providing skills training to our clients, but we make sure that can land a job once they finished their trainings. That is why it is a must to asses them and certify those who pass the assessment,” said Engr. David Bungallon, TESDA Baguio-Benguet Provincial Director.
He said that providing free skills training and assessment and free certification through convergence will give the PDLs the chance to gain new skills after their release.
Of the 19 PDLs assessed and certified, 14 were males and five were females graduates of community based training on Massage Therapy NC II sponsored by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The 19 trainees took the free competency assessment on September 29-30, 2019 conducted by Assessment Center International Skills Assessment and Academe of Must’ Er Piece, an accredited TESDA Assessment Center.
Competency Assessment is the process of establishing the competencies of an individual in accordance with the promulgated Competency Assessment Tools.
“All the trainees were found competent and are eligible for a National Certificate in Massage Therapy NC II. The National Certificate (NC) will likewise serve as a proof of their skills and competencies,” Director Bungallon said.
Meanwhile, PDLs in Baguio City are also undergoing skills training on Perform Manicure and Pedicure leading to Beauty Care Services (Nail) NC II.
The training started last October 2, 2019 and will end on October 15, 2019.
