TESDA beefs up women empowerment, provided skills training to 18 IP women

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet— A total of 18 women from Kibungan have received skills training in bread making as part of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) efforts to encourage more women to be empowered through technical vocational education and training (TVET).

“We will continue to push for equal access for all to quality education, skills acquisition and TVET,” said Engr. David Bungallon, TESDA provincial director.

He said more women will be encouraged to participate in TVET if the government will be bring its programs and services closer to them.

“As part of reaching out to special clients, reiterating the slogan “TESDA’s Abot Lahat” policy, providing free Skills Training under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP),” he explained.

The STEP seeks to address the specific needs of the communities and promote employment, particularly, through entrepreneurial, self-employment and service oriented activities.

“This is also in coordination with Cordillera Quest Center for Complementary Education and Social Work Services, Inc.,“ he added.

PD Bungallon said noted that the working culture has been transformed and it will definitely look forward to offering new opportunities to women.

“We only need to properly train and equip our women workforce to benefit them in this automation change,” he said. (Glenda Marquez/TESDA-Benguet)
