LA TRINIDAD, Benguet— A total of 225 indigenous peoples from the 13 municipalities here received free training in Heavy Equipment Operation NC II under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) in its effort to produce skilled workers supportive of President Duterte’s "Build Build Build" program.
“This is in support to the President’s flagship program to reduce poverty, encourage economic growth and create job opportunities for the beneficiaries,” said Engr. David Bungallon, TESDA Baguio-Benguet provincial director.
Adding, “This is also how we show our support in boosting the infrastructure sector in the country.”
Of the 225 beneficiaries who have undergone training on Heavy Equipment Operation NC II (Wheel Loader NC II, Hydraulic Excavator & Bulldozer), 221 were males and 3 were females.
PD Bungallon defined TWSP as a specialized program that equips its students with the necessary skills and knowledge required by the industry.
“TWSP aims to expand the capacity of the technical vocational education and training (TVET) sector and train more skilled workers and immediately address the current and emerging requirements of the industry,” he said.
Further, he said that after the 20 days training, the beneficiaries will undergo free assessment and certification.
In Cordillera, the TESDA’s database shows 4,024 enrollees, 3,559 graduates, 3,141 assessed, 2,933 certified, and 321 employed workers as outputs of construction related training and certification programs. (Glenda Marquez/TESDA-Benguet)
