TESDA training center in MP continues to provide baked goods to frontliners

LOAKAN—The TESDA Provincial Training Center (PTC) in Sabangan, Mt. Province continues to provide food assistance to the frontliners in the province in support to the government’s efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

In a report by the PTC, it was learned that the center has already produced 2,513 baked goods since the implementation of the community quarantine.

Engr. Eduardo Tamayao, the TESDA Acting Provincial Director and concurrent Center Administrator, explained that they initially intended to produce face masks. But since there is no technical-voc institution (TVI) offering dressmaking or tailoring program in Bontoc where the Provincial Office is located, the PTC instead baked baked goods with the help of various volunteers.

Of the 2,513 baked goods, 1,025 were nutribuns, 1,415 were assorted cookies, 58 were loaves of pineapple bread, and 15 were loaves of cinnamon bread.

“These were distributed to the frontliners manning the checkpoint at barangay Namatec, Busa, Napua, Capinitan, Camatagan, Poblacion, Losad, Data, Supang, Lower and Upper Tambingan, Bao-angan, Lagan, Pingad, in Sabangan, Mountain Province,” he said.

“In addition, baked goods were also distributed to the frontliners and undernourished children in the following areas: Barangays Otucan Norte and Otucan Sur in Sabangan, and Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital at Bauko, Mountain Province.”

The recent recipients of the baked goods were the returning students who hail from Baguio City and are currently under the monitoring of healthworkers at the Sabangan National High School campus. (PMTG/TESDA-CAR)
