TESDA-CAR, PROCOR team up for “Uniporme ko, Facemask mo”

LOAKAN— The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Cordillera together with the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) aim to work together in the continuous production of facemasks in support of executive orders or ordinances that require the use of facemask and impose penalties for offenders.

“This in support to the efforts of our men in service in mitigating the risk and impact of this pandemic,” said Engr. Manuel Wong, Regional Director of TESDA-CAR.

He said that all TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs) with registered program in Dressmaking/Tailoring NC II were instructed to produce and distribute facemasks. Where there is no such program by the TTIs, private sector tech-voc institutions helped in the project.

Rd Wong added, “I have instructed our Provincial Offices to coordinate with the PROCOR to ensure the realization and sustainability of the project with the PROCOR.”

Dubbed as “Uniporme ko, Facemask mo,” the PROCOR will give facemasks for free to individuals that are apprehended for violating the mandatory wearing of facemasks instead of imposing penalties on first-time offenders. Under the project, the PROCOR will donate fabric from old uniforms of their personnel while the TESDA Provincial Offices will turn them into facemasks.

Already, TESDA-Benguet, utilizing the training-cum-production strategy, has turned over 150 pieces of facemasks to PROCOR.

It can be recalled that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases approved the mandatory wearing of facemasks to help counter the spread of the virus.
