TESDA-CAR awards its outstanding partners
LOAKAN- Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) commemorated its 26th Anniversary on August 25, 2020. This year's celebration carries the theme “TESDA@26: Bringing Hope in Times of Crisis”.
One of the highlights of TESDA anniversary celebration is the awarding of TESDA Institutional Awards, these awards are given to TESDA’s partners, graduates, and trainers, who in one way or another helped TESDA in fulfilling its mandate. The awards are the Kabalikat Awards, Tagsanay Award, and Idols ng TESDA. TESDA-CAR awarded four of its outstanding partners via Zoom last August 26, Wednesday.
The TESDA Tagsanay Award is an institutional Award system that gives recognition and incentives to trainers from private and public Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) and TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs) who have exceeded the set requirements for TVET trainers and have demonstrated competencies beyond expectations.
This years’ TESDA Tagsanay Awardee is Mr. Joseph A. Sab-It, Jr., Ph.D. Ad. S.
He has provided quality skills training as a trainer and coach, Mr. Sab-it consistently produces TVET graduates worthy of their skills and talents. He demonstrates a TVET-focused approach that promotes recognizable improvements in education and training in the institution where he belongs.
On the other hand, the “Idols ng TESDA Award” is given to hard-working individuals who have become successful in their endeavors through their participation in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs.
This years’ Idols ng TESDA Awardee under the Wage-Employed Category is Ms. Jaya E. Marsan. She is one of the outstanding graduates of technical education and skills development (TESD) in Benguet. Her consistent display of excellence in obtaining numerous training and innovations in agriculture paved the way for several recognitions awarded by various government agencies. Ms. Marsan believes that TVET offers an effective option to sustain persistent issues on food security.
Meanwhile, the Kabalikat Award is one of the TESDA’s primary reward mechanisms in giving due recognition and honor to its outstanding partners in the promotion and enhancement of Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD).
This years’ Kabalikat Awardee is the Municipality of Asipulo, Ifugao. The local government unit of Asipulo is the newest municipality in Ifugao and the most active TVET LGU partner in the province. Due to its dynamism to Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD), the total number of beneficiaries of training is 967, assessed is 283, and with employment output of 464. The municipality of Asipulo invested Php9,602,367 in TESD programs.
Hon. Mayor Armando P. Domilod gladly accepts the plaque and wholeheartedly vowed to continue to support the programs and services of TESDA. “We are so thankful to have this award and the Municipality of Asipulo will continue to support the programs and projects of TESDA, I am so much thankful because the community is equipped with knowledge and skills and with that, this will help to improve their lives,” he said.
Finally, the Special Award is given to Atty. Betty Lourdes F. Tabanda, who is currently the Chairperson of RTESDC. She is known to be a strong partner of the TESDA CAR in technical education and training (TVET) policy developments. Ever since her chairmanship feat in the committee, she has been supporting various projects and programs of TESDA by coordinating and monitoring the delivery of skills development activities by the private and public sectors. Atty. Tabanda continues to exert efforts and even gone the extra mile, with her encouragement and direction, the STAR Program applications in the region remarkably increased. As a renowned elected member of the Baguio City Council, she has been deliberate in including TVET for her cause of bringing vigor and idealism in public service.
